Our Top Outdoor Activities for Fall 2020

Now that Summer is unofficially coming to an end, you might be looking to participate in some Fall themed activities. While this year might lack the traditional festivals we’ve become accustomed to in the Lehigh Valley, there’s still plenty of adventures to keep you busy. We put together a list of our favorite places to visit once the days get cooler.

Pick-Your-Own Apples, Sunflowers, and More!
A classic fall activity that is equally as fun for a family outing, a group of friends, or a date with your sweetie. Grim Orchards in Breinigsville PA doesn’t just stop at apples, they also have pick-your-own potatoes, veggies, and pumpkins available to bring home. While you’re there make sure you check out their Sunflower Experience where you can snap unforgettable pictures between these fall-favorite blooms. (www.grimorchards.com)

Visit a Winery – it’s Harvest Season!
The best time to visit a winery is without a doubt during Harvest Season, which falls between August and October in the Northern Hemisphere. The weather is cooler, the grapes are ripe, and wineries are bustling with activity. The eight wineries that make up the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail all offer something different with their varietals, entertainment, and food offerings. We even named our latest home design after one of them, The Vynecrest, which is available in our Millbrook Estates Community. (www.lehighvalleywinetrail.com)

Indulge in some Nature Therapy
One thing that makes living in Pennsylvania wonderful is our vast array of hiking and biking trails. While there are many to choose from in the Lehigh Valley area, Jacobsburg State Park is a great pick for an afternoon stroll through the forest. Located near our popular Northwood Farms and Tatamy Farms communities, this Nazareth PA park has more than 18 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and more all centered around Bushkill Creek. Dine Al Fresco
If there ever was a year for outdoor dining to take center stage, 2020 is certainly it! With limited indoor dining capacity, many Lehigh Valley restaurants are taking it to the streets – quite literally! The downtown areas in Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton have all added newly constructed parklets to accommodate the increase in demand for al fresco eats. And while summertime is coming to an end, autumn’s warm sunny days and cool nights may be even better for enjoying a meal outdoors.

Catch a Movie Under the Stars
Another 2020 surprise is that drive-in movies are back in fashion! With social distancing, nearly all indoor entertainment venues were shut down this summer and people’s interest in outdoor activities has been revitalized. There are several drive-ins in the Lehigh Valley to choose from – Shankweiler’s in Orefield, Becky’s in Walnutport, and The Mahoning in Lehighton with each featuring weekly showtimes and special events.

We hope you make the most of the upcoming season creating memories and discovering new areas of the Lehigh Valley to fall in love with.
